Caring for your candle...

HINTS, TIPS AND ADVICE ON HOW TO GET THE MOST FROM YOUR CANDLE...

  • Ensure you put your candle on to a heat-resistant surface and be cautious when moving as the candle may not yet be cool enough to handle.

  • Place your candle on to a flat surface to assist with an even burn. Failure to do this could see your jar at risk of shattering as the flame may be angled.

  • Keep clothes and hair away from a naked flame. It’s easy to forget about a candle when leaning across or brushing past.

  • TRIM YOUR WICK! We say this time and time again, you have to keep your wicks trimmed, to ensure there’s no soot when burning and a clean, fresh wick to burn. Burn for no more than 3-4 hours per time. If your wick is sooting, you'll smell this rather than our fabulous scents!

  • Keep the wax pool free of trimmings, matches and debris.

  • Use a snuffer to extinguish your candle. Doing this also will prevent splatter of wax to your interiors and more importantly, to other people/yourself.. Not got a candle extinguisher or wick corrector? You can use tweezers/scissors etc to trim your wick or correct its position.

  • Extinguish your candle if it repeatedly smokes, flickers or the flame becomes too high.  The candle isn’t burning properly. Allow to cool, trim the wick, then check for drafts before relighting.

  • Do not leave a candle unattended at any time, as this may cause a fire and/or harm yourself or others.

  • Ensure no materials that can catch fire are left near the candle. As they say, 'don't add fuel to a fire'.

  • Ensure you extinguish your candle before leaving a room or leaving a flame unattended.

  • Nobody under the age of 18 should light or touch candles without the guidance and watch of an Adult.

  • Do not touch the candle jar/glass when this is burning, it will be hot to touch and may cause harm to yourself. Likewise, allow your jar to cool when extinguished, to prevent the risk of burning.

  • Do not burn your candle all the way to the jar bottom. You should extinguish and discontinue using your candle when ½ an inch of wax remains, to prevent the jar from overheating and smashing/or causing damage to the surface it is on. If you want to make the most of what remains, place your jar in warm water, melting the remaining wax and pour in to moulds/muffin cases to create your own wax melts.

  • Do not extinguish candles with water. This will cause the wax to splatter and container may then break.
